Memorial Prayer Garden

Faith Lutheran Church
Forest Lake, Minnesota

The idea for a Memorial Prayer Garden began to grow when a Faith Lutheran member visited Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, MN, where he saw a columbarium.  He thought it would be a wonderful service to members of his church.  A dedicated group of three members made the columbarium their mission.  Although it took several years of hard work, the columbarium and the Wall of Memories were dedicated in November 2008.  After visiting other churches with a columbarium and meeting with columbarium builders, they chose Eickhof Columbaria, Inc., the same company that built the columbarium at Christ Presbyterian Church.  They liked the style of the Eickhof niches, particularly the completely smooth front and the hidden locking mechanism.  They also appreciated the way Paul Eickhof was willing to work with them, providing help and guidance.  The Faith Lutheran Church’s columbarium features a low wall with 56 niches on each side and blends in nicely with the church.  The foundation for a matching second wall with another 112 niches has been laid.  The current price for a niche is $2,500 for two urns and $2,000 for one.  This includes engraving the stone front of a niche and perpetual care.  Plans have been drawn for the landscaping, which will be completed in the near future.

The names of members, their relatives, and friends may be engraved on the Wall of Memories.  It is part of the Memorial Prayer Garden.
